    Survey the lane before selecting the display

    Record vehicle path, stopping points, speaker-post position, curb, canopy, landscape, sight obstructions and pedestrian routes. Photograph the lane at opening, midday and evening. The board must become readable early enough for drivers to decide without slowing the line unexpectedly.

    Map how prices and availability move from the source system to the CMS and player. Define timing for breakfast changes, store-specific overrides, sold-out items and emergency rollback. Keep a local approved fallback so a network outage does not remove the ordering menu.

    Test the display while the order-point audio system is in use. Screen sequence and speaker position should support the conversation rather than force the customer to look backward or scan unrelated zones.

    Design foundations, power and data before shipment

    A site engineer should confirm structure, anchors, wind assumptions and local permit needs. Assign responsibility for foundation drawings, conduit, circuits, grounding, surge protection, network service and restoration of pavement or landscaping. Do not let the enclosure supplier and installer assume the other owns the interface.

    Review packed dimensions, unloading equipment and storage. Outdoor units may require coordinated delivery and lifting; these tasks belong in the project schedule and cost model.

    Make maintenance possible from a safe position

    Plan cleaning, filter access where applicable, player replacement, module replacement and diagnostics. A service door that opens into live traffic or requires removing the full enclosure increases risk. Define lane-closure procedures and whether common repairs can be completed by trained local technicians.

    Monitor more than content publication. Where supported, track player heartbeat, display power state, temperature or alarms, connectivity and last successful content sync. Assign escalation owners and keep per-site labels and photos.

    Pilot one representative site before chain rollout

    Select a site with realistic sun and traffic rather than the easiest location. Test daytime and nighttime readability, dimming behavior, menu changes, offline playback, power recovery, audio coordination, weather sealing, service access and image retention of settings.

    Record findings as acceptance criteria and update drawings, wiring, content templates, packaging and installation instructions before volume production. A disciplined pilot prevents every site team from rediscovering the same issue.
